I don’t know if anyone has noticed but tumblr seems to be a place where depression, self harm, eating disorders, drug and alcohol addictions, and well not healthy things are almost stylish. I feel anyone who truly has these illnesses would keep them to themselves and not try to be popular from it. All of these diseases are awful, painful, and even life threatening; my question is why would you want to be like that. I’ve spent the last year in and out of programs for recovery and all of you seem to want to have what i have been trying so disparately to get rid of and it makes me kind of sick to think about. This is straight up first world problems, since we don’t have anything to complain about were going to make it so we do, we are going to create problems for ourselves. I do want to add sometimes tumblr can help get some feelings off your chest, however, it is also extremely triggering. Let’s all be disgustingly skinny and grow our hair super long, smoke some weed, snort some cocaine and maybe even slit our wrists cause then I will be excepted by society. FUCK THAT. This stuff doesn’t make you cool or sexy.
I love tumblr but I don’t know how much more of it I can take. You aren’t even aware how lucky you are to have a computer, food, water, shelter. I’m sure all those starving teens around the world aren’t to happy with their lives but they can’t sit and blog about it, they deal with it.
Tumblr can also be a place of artistic expression which is what it should be, or things that make you happy. Sorry for my venting but I just needed to express this.
